The Internets

Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. Have you seen the trailer for the “Facebook story” movie? Puke-inducing.

But FB has been great at getting me back in touch with old chums, etc. etc. But the best thing about it is that you can exploit its stupid, boilerplate lingo to achieve phenomena such as that you see in the picture… :)

Loyal readers, I am pleased to announce that my lengthy experiment with Google Ads has come to an end; they will so longer sully the pages of mondojohnson.com.

I was always uneasy about trying them, but the despair of poverty and joblessness can drive a man to do crazy things.

And to Google: you’re doing some awesome things on other fronts, but the ad thing is a blight on the landscape. Big fan and user of Google Voice, Google Docs, Calendar, etc….

UPDATE, 8/4/2010 — you may have noticed that AdSense ads still appear on my Feedburner feed. It won’t be for long — I finally just figured out how to remove them. They said it will take up to ten minutes for the change to appear, thought.

Odd that this little revelation came about just now…. A couple days ago I was tasked with visually representing certain years in recent history for a professor’s presentation. Most of the dates were easy: 1948: “Dewey Defeats Truman”. 1959: An Edsel. 1974: Leisure suited, feminized man.

But I got stuck on 1991: Gulf War? Paul Tsongas? Bill Clinton?

Eventually, the cover of Nirvana’s “Nevermind” came to mind, and if worked perfectly, of course. Fascinating to see that iconic little baby all grown up.

Three clever lads produced this slick little film that follows the scrolling text from Star Wars after it disappears from view. Enjoy!

According to the dubious Which Torchwood Character Are You? quiz at buddytv.com, I am “tough-Welsh-chick-with-a-heart-of-gold” Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles). Of course, it would have been nice to have been Captain Jack Harkness, but I’m not nearly that self-confident.

Here is the breakdown:

You may be extremely ambitious and feisty, but your compassion and ability to relate to people helps keep you grounded. However, your empathetic nature and your desire to believe in the goodness of others can sometimes hinder you when you’re put into dangerous situations. Romance isn’t hard for you to find, but your affairs don’t always end well.

This is as accurate as any horoscope, I suppose. At least I’m not Owen Harper:)

Which one are you?
