Brak

The Buzz Log has compiled a funny list of commonly misspelled search strings. The top standouts:

  • Swan Flu (for Swine Flu)
  • Susan Boil (for “Britain’s Got Talent” contender Susan Boyle)
  • Brack Obama (for U.S. President Barack Obama)

My personal favorite, of course, is “Brack Obama” … it gave me a delirious nanosecond of picturing President BRAK.

Popeye Shipwreck Game

Fanboy.com continues its unending, ass-kicking parade of delights today with photos of a “Popeye Shipwreck Game” , unearthed from the depths of the Great Depression in 1933. The blogger, Michael Pinto, snapped some lovely shots of the well-preserved game, which he spotted in a shop window in NYC.

I see that the haters have already started to pile on the new Fox prime-time toon, “Sit Down, Shut Up”, an adaptation of an Aussie show from the makers of “Arrested Development”.

The show surprised me — I am a harsh critic of mainstream TV animation, and I fully expected to be one of the aforementioned haters, in fact. But the sassy vocal performances and innovative use of photographic backgrounds kept me immersed. The writing could use a little polish, but I expect that’ll come along as the show continues. (Have you watched the first couple episodes of “King of the Hill” or “Futurama” lately? The characters sound different; they hadn’t yet “found their voice,” literally.)

I hope this show is allowed to settle in and get comfortable for a while. This could be a gem in the rough…

DVD box for Venture Bros. Season Three

The Venture Bros.: Season Three

Season 3 of the kickass Venture Bros. is out today, go buy it. It is currently tied, in my judgment, with “Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job” as the best show on television. And, like TEASGJ, it sinks deeper into its own twisted universe more and more with each progressive season.

This 3rd season is frikkin’ literary — the plots and characters have become more and more intriguing and hilarious. I’m on the edge of my seat for season 4 — what will become of Brock Samson?!?
