Kal Penn

Television, my best and oldest friend, may have finally warped my ability to distinguish between the flesh world and the Videodrome.

I just shred real tears over the fictional suicide of the fictional character Kutner on “House, M.D.” (portrayed by fellow Jersey boy Kal Penn, of “Harold and Kumar” fame). It was shocking and dark… I was genuinely rattled.

Apparently the folks at Fox anticipated the sad reaction of those of us who spend most of their time bathed in TV’s glow: at the end of the show, they urged viewers to log on to the “online memorial to Lawrence Kutner” to share their feelings.

I have a headache. Time to watch “24″… :)

Buzz cut

If you’re thinking of cutting your hair with one of those cheapo “trimming combs” (AS SEEN ON TV!), don’t. What you see in this picture are the results of the valiant effort of the girl at Supercuts to clean up the disaster I had made of my hair.

A naked-necked buzzcut, on the day when it’s 9 degrees outside (-5 degrees, with wind chill factored in).

Spelling Bee ChampKatherine Close of Spring Lake, NJ won the National Spelling Bee (the word: ursprache).  The mutant waters of New Jersey continue to spawn the country’s best geniuses (and fools).
